Standard Learning Credits (SLC) – what you need to know!
The Standard Learning Credits (SLC) Scheme offers financial assistance to bolster your educational and vocational accomplishments throughout your professional journey.
Members of the Armed Forces are eligible to submit SLC claims on an annual basis, wherein they can receive financial support equivalent to 80% of their course fees, up to a maximum limit of £175 per financial year, for approved academic and vocational courses. It is important to note that this allowance operates on a “use it or lose it” basis, meaning that any unused funds do not carry over into the subsequent financial year.
Making an application – Before embarking on a SLC funded course, Service Personnel must complete the tri-service application MOD Form 1950 ensuring it is signed by their Education Staff and Line Manager. Without this Service Personnel will be ineligible for a refund.
Submitting a claim – The refund payment will be made on completion of the course. A detailed breakdown can be found in Joint Service Publication (JSP 898), Defence Direction and Guidance on Training, Education and Skills, (Section 3.5.1 – Standard Learning Credit Scheme)
Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC)
As a company we endeavour to obtain Enhanced Learning Credits Approved Supplier status. Regrettably we are unable to facilitate this avenue of funding right now. However, in keeping with our pledge to the Armed Forces Covenant we will do our best to signpost you to another veteran lead company who can accept this metric of funding.
